Item Of The Week: The Honey Pot Company Review

Hey guys its been a few days but I am back and ready for this week's Item of the week. If you have been following me for a while you know that I reviewed this product last year. Well here is my follow up review of these products. As some of you may know Target is a big supporter of small black owned companies. Every February they highlight a company and their CEOs. Well this year they highlighted Bea Dixon the CEO of The Honey Pot Company.

So boom there I was laying in my bed watching regular cable TV (random because I stay on my fire stick) and there comes a commercial (see why I stay on the stick lol). I think it was meant for me to watch that commercial, because there was a beautiful black woman, talking to me. Talking to the little girl in me, she was saying that the success of her company was important. Why? because if she could build a company from the ground up and it succeeded she would be the example for little black girls who want to follow in her lead. Great message right? Actually falls perfectly in line with my mission of supporting and showcasing black owned companies. Yet as many of you know this commercial sparked a whole outrage, well a fake one! One from those who feel that when black people want to promote themselves and we keep them out of the narrative it's a problem.

Well in true Black Girl Magic fashion, black women went out in droves, they not only wrote real and accurate reviews but also bought out all the products in their local stores. I was already on the wave and luckily I already had 2 bottles so I wasn't really tripping that the products were sold out.

The outrage and uproar taught me a few things, first like I said earlier white women don't like being left out of the narrative, despite the fact that The Honey Pot Company is very racially inclusive, they just happened to be owned by a black woman! Second these products can not only be found at Target but at Walmart and surprisingly some military instillations as well. Lastly it proves my point that we as a community can make or break a company!!

so lets get into some details about the company and my review

Mission/Vision

"The whole reason I started The Honey Pot Co was because I was suffering from bacterial vaginosis for months and couldn't get relief. One night, an ancestor visited me in a dream and gifted me with a vision to heal myself. With her help, I created the Honey Pot Co to solve for what other brands wouldn't, using the power of herbs."- Bea Dixon

How Much Do The Products Cost?

Homemade products, they must cost a fortune right? NO! The products are actually affordable, they are in the same price range as products similar to it. They range anywhere from $7.99 (pads, travel-size washes, and travel-size wipes) to $9.99 (regular-size washes and larger packs of wipes).

Where Can You Buy These Products?

As I said before you can get these products at multiple places other than target if your local store is sold out. Thanks to corona many of us are not leaving our homes, so online shopping is booming, so you can actually head over to their website or to Amazon (my personal favorite place). The site was sold out for a while and actually is still sold out but if you follow them via instagram you will see when they restock and you can stock up on some more.

Products I Own

I personally use their foaming wash and wipes, and I have been for about two years now. As a woman our bodies change and with that sometimes our PH Balance in our honey pot changes as well. As I have gotten older and had a child my PH balance has changed. I honestly didn't feel like myself and wanted to use products that were natural and made for my body. If you have been reading my blog I always look for Black Owned Brands first in order to meet the need before I go anywhere else. I found out about the honey pot via Amber Rose and after being flooded via social media due to Facebook Ads or IG ads I decided to take the plunge and purchase. They provide a quiz that helps you find which of the washes are acceptable for you. After the quiz I was matched with the Normal Foaming Wash Formula.

The Normal foaming was formula is for women who typically don't experience irritation or dryness. It is suppose to wash away odor-causing bacteria, hydrate your vulva, and balance your pH for long-lasting freshness and protection. This wash formula is 100% natural and made with herbal ingredients.

Three pumps into your palm is all you need. No wash cloth, and nothing extra just your hands, the product and water. I love how clean I feel after washing with this product and three pumps is honestly all you need, this means you aren't using too much product and getting a bang for your buck. I wash twice a day once in the morning and in the evening (If I am not being lazy lol), if I catch a midday workout I shower again. Even with that amount of showers a bottle can last me anywhere between 45 to 60 days. Now sometimes when I catch a work out and have to head back to work, I will also still refresh my honey pot. This leads me to my other purchase.

The Normal Wipes. After using these I feel fresh with no residue, no irritation, and they have no artificial fragrance. The wipes are not flushable and will run you about $10 but they come in handy for a quick wash up. I have also used them while in the field (because in my other life I am also in the military lol) due to not having the resources to properly shower. I will say these are the best wipes I have used and the closets to shower clean I have felt without a shower ever.

As I always say, the things I use and recommend may not work for you. I always want to recommend products that will give you the best results possible but no two Honey pots like no two women are made the same (EVEN TWINS). I always hope that the products I use and recommend will work for you as well. I stand by my belief in the Honey Pot Company and what they represent, yet I will say you know your body better than anyone else, use what works for you but I hope this works for you. If you do grab one share your experience with me!

Please stay safe, wash your hands, wear a mask, and stay home if possible. Talk soon loves!
